That Sweet Name

Susannah Grace Guner
This is her sweet monogram.
I ordered this wall art decal to go over her bed in the nursery!

It's been a little while since my last post. I thought I would take the opportunity to share with you how we went about choosing the name Susannah Grace Gunter. At the beginning of my pregnancy, before we knew the gender of our child, Trey and I had contemplated several names. However, we had only settled on two BOY names, Wesley Powell and Samuel Walter! For some reason, at the beginning, we both thought we were having a boy. These gut feelings changed for me as time passed by. Trey still was certain it was a boy, mainly because he is terrified of getting his heart broken by his baby girl :). I think the Lord knew just what he was doing when he gave us a little girl first. I just know this little girl is going to make Trey a more tender daddy. I think he will be an amazing father for her! Nevertheless, once we found out for sure it was a girl we began to think about names. It took us a while but we finally came up with the name Susannah Grace. Susannah is a combination of her two grandmothers' names, Susie (Trey's mom) and Ann (my mom). Someone recently told me the "ah" sound on the end of her name could be taken from the ending sound of my name, Melinda! So, her name represents all three of us in one :). We also really liked the way Grace rolled off of the tongue. Therefore, this is how this sweet name was chosen. We can't wait to meet her!

An Exciting Year!

We were thrilled when we found out the good news
and couldn't wait to share it with our family!
Sydney- in the SURPRISE outfit I made her :)
Close Up- It says, "I can't wait to meet my cousin."

Trey and I are excited about embarking on a new and exciting year! Susannah Grace will be here before we both know it! I never did share the story of how we told both of our parents that we were expecting. So, in light of the new year, I thought I would recap this exciting moment in our lives during 2009! Trey and I found out we were pregnant shortly before my birthday, June 20th. Since Father's Day occurred the day after my birthday, both of our families planned to all get together to celebrate my birth, of course :), and Father's Day. Trey and I used this time as the perfect moment to tell both sides of the family at once. So, I took my precious niece, Sydney, and changed her into the "surprise outfit" while everyone was mingling. She got to be the bearer of our good news! It took everyone a few minutes to soak in what we were trying to share with them. However, once they understood what was happening they were all filled will astonishment and joy!
